Subject:Crossed Genres - Calls for submissions & announcement
Posted by:cgmod.
Time:9:20 pm.
Just a couple calls for submissions and an announcement to share.

#1 – Crossed Genres magazine is currently accepting submissions for the sci-fi and fantasy TRAGEDY issue.

#2 – The 'Science in My Fiction' blog is also seeking short story submissions. All stories must be inspired by actual science (with submissions, please include links to relevant articles).

#3 – Crossed Genres just released 'A Festival of Skeletons' by Rachel Astruc. It's a darkly fantastic comedy that still makes me chuckle, even though I've read it several times now. Sure, I'm the editor, but if you like sass and suspense, I think you'll enjoy reading 'A Festival of Skeletons'.

Subject:Headscratching. Once again something doesnt sound right :/
Posted by:qingri.
Time:12:04 am.
Mood: confused.

I stopped writing this because i didn't think it sounded right. Kinda like when Arthur burnt down the village hall (different story). I had another idea shortly after writing this bit up that Em's father could find Julian in her room instead? I want Emelin to die in front of Julian and i want her to bleed out. I know it sounds horrible but its vital in my head. If she bleeds out, Julian has no time to try and turn her. If she dies in front of him he will give up hope on her and not know that she turns anyway.
Previous post has a peice from before this.

Subject:The Science in My Fiction Contest!
Posted by:cgmod.
Time:10:19 pm.
There’s been a lot of talk recently about whether science fiction is obsolete, no longer the genre of ideas, and so on. Some people have claimed that there is no need to educate yourself in science in order to write science fiction.

We respectfully think that’s hooey, so we came up with the Science in My Fiction contest!

Here’s how it works…Collapse )

Subject:Stepsister
Posted by:kianaaaaa.
Time:10:21 pm.
I'm always super cautious about starting a new multi-chapter story, but I have a good feeling about this one.

Title: Stepsister
Rating: PG-13/R-ish for heavy drug use and kissing between step-siblings if that squicks you.
Genre: Romance/General.
Summary: Aric's almost nonexistent relationship with his stepsister takes a sharp turn when she stumbles in way too drunk and high one night.

Subject:Hiya - Extract - tell me what you think
Posted by:houseoflunar.
Time:9:15 pm.
Mood: tired.
My name's Amanda, I just turned 13 and I'm writing my novel "House of Lunar" Its a horror novel but its a bit weird as well, anyways here's an extract, tell me what you think. (=

An Extract from House of Lunar
Ripping up from the floorboards, each vein struggling, trying desperately not to pop under the tension and pain as they stretched their way up into the grimy atmosphere. They shrieked and whistled in anguish pulling themselves from the clutches of the building. Their arms wooden, stretched, swollen and blistered, their eyes hollow and perturbed. Who would be so merciless as to thrust this misfortune upon these poor souls? Indisputably it was the house that devoured them, or would it be more appropriate to say that it was a cold-case mystery? Though you could consider them as monsters, the gritty reality was that they were people. People who had each one of their veins and arteries wired into the crumbling edifice of
Ebenezer.

An extract from my novel.
# please comment ! =)

P.S Ebenezer is the name of the house.
This is also on my journal
